Dichroic Glass Dichroic - two coloured glass Dichroic Glass is a multi-layer coating placed on glass by using a highly technical vacuum deposition process. Quartz Crystal and Metal Oxides are vaporised onto the surface of the glass in the form of a crystal structure. Light will either be transmitted through the glass or reflected back causing an array of different colours in a piece of glass. Due to the variations in the firing process, results can never be exactly reproduced - therefore each piece is individual. Each piece is hand crafted by Derek Hayward who designs, cuts and fuses this glass in his own kiln, to produce his stunning art.
